Sedus passes major EMAS 2 eco-audit once again

The efficiency of a company’s environmental protection measures is constantly under scrutiny from both internal and external environmental audits. So-called “major” eco-audits are performed every three years by legally approved auditors. Both Sedus Stoll AG in Dogern and Sedus Systems GmbH in Geseke successfully passed the audit on 26.2.2008.

The new certificates (PDF, 1.02 MB) were presented by the CCI President, Kurt Grieshaber, during a small celebration on 23 July 2008.

As part of its obligation to the environment, Sedus was the first company in the industry in Europe and the first company in the region to introduce an eco-management system conforming to the EU’S Eco-Management & Audit Scheme (EMAS) as early as 1995: a system which has been continuously improved and expanded on ever since. At the time, Sedus was one of the first 40 companies to earn the certification in the whole of Germany. Working from EU legislation, accredited external environmental verifiers performed extensive inspections on-site before confirming that the current environmental laws were being observed, that the effects on the environment were under control and that environmental protection is being continually improved. This certification is valid for a period of 3 years and was successfully retained in 1998 and 2001. In 2001, the eco-management system was evaluated according to the amended EMAS 2 regulation (Eco Management and Audit Scheme) 761 of April 2001. The regulation had undergone extensive expansions and now includes the ISO 14001 requirements for management systems and the evaluation of effects on the environment. Alongside the EMAS 2, the site at Waldshut/Dogern and thus Sedus Systems GmbH has also been certified to DIN EN ISO 14001.

Sedus Stoll AG has been committed to ecological business management and actively integrating environmental protection into its corporate process for many, many years now.

Further information on eco-management and the certified environmental statement with data on waste management, emission management, the energy budget and the use of materials, etc., can be found in the Environmental statement (PDF, 1.55 MB).
