September 2008
From 21-25 October 2008, Sedus will be welcoming visitors to the Orgatec trade fair in Cologne from a brand new stand located at B50 in the new Hall 8.
The stand covers an area of over 1,300 m2 and is enclosed by an outer shell evocative of the colourful motif of the high-bay warehouse at the main production location in Dogern (architects: Sauerbruch/Hutton), which attracts a good deal of attention due to its extraordinary colour concept and has come to symbolise Sedus.
Once inside our stand, visitors are welcomed by an impressive scenery: The sky is filled with enormous kites, recalling a mobile by Alexander Calder. A seven-metre high tree in the middle of the stand casts a shadow across the piazza, which acts as a central meeting point and a place to relax.
Real-life implementation of an open space office
A variety of rooms can be accessed via self-supporting steps and offer views across the entire stand from all four corners, which is revealed to be a well-structured open space office. The space is divided into zones by a partition system known as the “mood wall” that we designed specially for this fair and which shields the individual areas both optically and acoustically. The open space office is the central theme of our stand and is reproduced here on a scale of 1:1 to show how an entire company can be housed on a single floor. From the reception, through to the most diverse departments and fields of responsibility, from the director’s office with secretariat to the bistro and showroom, visitors will find a clear and impressive demonstration of how a company can operate as a team successfully and in a pleasant and atmospheric environment.
Further development of the “Place 2.5” workplace concept
The fundamental idea behind our presence at this trade fair is the Sedus “Place 2.5” furnishing concept, which serves as the inspiration and trend-setter for the workplace design of knowledge work. “Place 2.5” takes an integral approach to the workplace, goes far beyond the functional aspect of furnishing and brings together all the elements and systems available for producing an office environment that is emotionally attractive and atmospheric: greenery, aromas, sound, lighting and, of course, ergonomically perfect furnishings.
A wide range of new products
All items of office furniture exhibited at the stand are brand new to the trade fair and will be adopted into the series as of October: the gracefully designed Sedus temptation table system with a range of models which can be used to create all possible configurations of office layouts, a new generation of mobile pedestals and screen systems, Sedus meet chair & table for dining halls and canteens and the innovative range of Sedus crossline swivel chairs with the new Similar-Plus mechanism, which ensures smooth movement during dynamic sitting.
