Sedus opens new showroom in Hamburg

On May 7 2009 in the city of Hamburg on the river Elbe, the hooting of ship horns was accompanied by the sound of champagne corks popping. On Rosenstrasse street, near to the inner Alster lake and Mönkebergstrasse street, specialist dealers, partner companies, journalists and the northern sales team gathered at the new Sedus representative office to celebrate this outstanding example of a modern office which appeals to all the senses. In his opening speech, Udo Heep, Sales Manager for Sedus Germany, stressed that the showroom represents an investment into the future.

The showroom is located in the former banking hall of the Deutschen Genossenschaftshypothekenbank (German cooperative mortgage bank) and exhibits exclusively product innovations. Sedus has also taken over parts of the foyer where it has created relaxation zones and meeting points to encourage informal exchange which exactly reflect the new emotional office culture and which have also been met with enthusiasm by the bank employees. 

The final touches to get the showroom looking just right were still being made right up to the launch in the afternoon –  the 80 invited guests were suitably impressed by the end result. All the elements of the holistic office concept “Place 2.5”, realised by Sedus in collaboration with partner companies, were both marvelled at and tried out for size: the acoustic images demonstrated that wall decoration is not only attractive but can also absorb any unwanted noise, and some guests found the swivel chairs so comfortable that they opted to enjoy the stand-up reception sitting down. 

The Hamburg showroom places particular emphasis on acoustics. Here, Sedus has set up two different meeting rooms. One is reverberant, i.e., the acoustics have not been considered. The other room, however, has been acoustically conditioned, i.e., it is furnished with an acoustic image and carpet. This makes the issue of acoustics tangible to visitors.
