Sedus at Orgatec: A dazzling display of innovation below a cube of light
From 26 to 30 October 2010, Sedus exhibited in Cologne with a stand spread over 1,200 square metres. With a twelve-metre-high white fabric façade of varying transparency, the stand made a sizeable impression and, at the same time, granted visitors an insight into the spacious interior where a large illuminated cube in a design inspired by the high-bay warehouse floated above the innovations.
A record number of product innovations were on display and, unless the size of the stand is increased, this record will be impossible to beat in future. Only a hand full of the swivel chairs were from 2008. The majority of the exhibits were made up of the numerous innovations which were developed to time with the trade fair together with the new series products from autumn 2009 and spring 2010.
A life-sized, themed presentation was built, which eclipsed all conventional product displays. The focus of the stand was the new office furniture range “temptation twin”, which features a matching table and storage unit system, high desks with integrated media technology, and special configurations for middle management. Additional new products include the “sopha” upholstery range and smart partition screening which is ideal for creating intermediate zones in both open plan and combined offices.
Two new comprehensive ranges were on show from the seminar and conference furnishings sector; the versatile and mobile furniture system “brainstorm”, which allows for multifunctional use of space, and the extremely exclusive and modular-design conference desk system “mastermind”, which allows all conventional conference configurations to be created and includes a large folding table for spontaneous and temporary meetings.
The “meet chair & table” range for seminar rooms, canteens and break areas has been expanded to include new chair models with wooden seat pans and three bar stools.
And last but not least, the products innovations from summer 2010 also enjoyed their debut at the Orgatec: The “match up” range of swivel chairs, the “of course” range of executive seating, and the “grand slam” universal range of storage units.
A film campaign was conducted even before the start of the trade fair. The result was four sequences entitled “A day at the office” which showed day-to-day working life with Sedus office furniture. By combining innovative technology, smart unique features, unbeatable functionality and appealing design with exemplary planning, office dynamism can be created which automatically gets users moving. This helps ensure both physical and mental well-being.
Together with the pool partners from “Office of the Senses”, the stand was again equipped with all conceivable sensual stimulants – greenery, aromas, sound, lighting and, new this year: humidification. Using professional humidification systems normally used in printing press halls, the climate at the stand was continually maintained at the ideal level.
The drinks flowed freely at the stand party on Thursday at which the 2000+ guests stood in amazement as the illuminated cube was moved underneath the hall ceiling to form a lighting console for the impressive set from the nine-man soul band “Funky Frank” who, just like the beer, had been imported from the south of Germany's Black Forest.
