With sales of about 243 million euros, the Sedus Stoll Group closed the 2024 financial year profitably. The company performed well compared to the rest of the industry, even though the record sales of 2023 were not achieved again due to the economic situation. Despite the difficult economic situation, particularly in the office furniture markets in European countries, the Sedus Stoll Group was able to achieve a positive result overall last year.
“Uncertain political and economic conditions have led many companies to take a cautious view of the future and invest with corresponding restraint,” says Daniel Kittner, Spokesperson of the Board at Sedus Stoll AG. “The office furniture industry is not immune to the effects of this development. The construction industry is not experiencing an upturn and larger projects have declined noticeably. Project sizes have also decreased.”
At the same time, the office world is undergoing major changes. Working from home is established and time spent in the office needs to be organised sensibly. This calls for new environments that promote dialogue, collaboration and creativity. In this challenging environment, the Sedus Stoll Group, together with specialist retail partners, successfully implemented projects last year that are perfectly adapted to these new requirements.
At the leading trade fair for modern working environments ORGATEC, Sedus Stoll AG and its three Group brands Sedus, Klöber and S³ Advice GmbH presented their products and services with impressive trade fair appearances.
Sedus presented 18 new products in Cologne under the motto ‘Design to Connect - The Rendezvous Office’, which inspired the international trade fair visitors. The brand staged the approximately 1,050 m² trade fair stand as a work café, thus addressing an emerging industry trend.
“Work Cafés have evolved into hybrid spaces in modern work environments that go beyond traditional break areas and support a variety of work and relaxation modes,” explains Kittner. “While traditional staff rooms are designed for short periods of relaxation and offer functional facilities such as coffee machines and tables, Work Cafés create an atmosphere that specifically aims to promote productivity, creativity and social interaction. Users are free to choose whether they want to work informally on their own, come together in teams, communicate, network or simply relax with a good cup of coffee. With our current market launches, which we presented to the public for the first time at ORGATEC, we are picking up on this development and at the same time setting standards for the office of today and tomorrow.’
Even in economically challenging times, sustainability remains a priority at Sedus. By the end of 2025, the administrative and production sites (Scope 1 & 2) in Dogern and Geseke will be CO₂-neutral. An important milestone on the road to climate neutrality was the installation of photovoltaic systems at the production sites and the use of heat pumps for heating in 2024.
However, sustainability has many facets. For Sedus, three cornerstones form the basis of all actions. The principle of ‘People, Planet, Profit’ makes it clear that the company's goal must always create added value on an economic, ecological and social level. “All decisions must always take the ‘three Ps’ into account,” says Kittner. “We make sure that our actions always have a positive impact on at least two of the aspects, while at the same time none of them is compromised.”
Sedus is owned by the Stoll VITA Foundation and the Karl Bröcker Foundation. Together, these two foundations maintain the entrepreneurial independence of Sedus Stoll AG, and pursue charitable, philanthropic goals. Around two-thirds of profit is donated to charitable causes. As well as nature conservation, Sedus supports projects in the fields of public health, education, and preventive, therapeutic projects and facilities for children and young people both in Germany and abroad.
Sedus will open the Sedus Hub West in summer 2025. The new showroom in Düsseldorf will demonstrate how modern, forward-looking working environments can be designed. From mid-July, visitors and guests will have the opportunity to experience modern workplace solutions in the Rhine metropolis and get to know the intuitive fusion of agile working environments with smart office solutions. In addition to the 14 existing showrooms in Germany and abroad, the new Sedus Hub West will also showcase the latest product innovations that Sedus has launched since January 2025 following the ORGATEC trade fair. .
In autumn 2025, Sedus will introduce new products to the market that will drive the further development of the work-life balance towards a work-life blend. The new products will create even more flexible ways of working that integrate seamlessly into employees' lives.
