Guiding idea: the Work Café as a “third place”

At the core of the interior concept lies the ambition to create an inviting, feel-good place to work. The inspiration came from the idea of “third places” - spaces where people enjoy spending time beyond home and the traditional office, such as cafés.
This is why the Work Café has become the centrepiece: a setting for coming together, for informal exchange, brief meetings or focused individual work - with an ambience more reminiscent of hospitality than of a classic office.
Munich as a source of inspiration

The fact that the HUB is situated here is no coincidence. Michael Brünjes, Head of Sales, puts it succinctly: Munich is a “cosmopolitan city with a heart” - and many still refer to it as the country’s “secret capital”. For him, the city brings together the best of two worlds: big-city energy paired with the charm and intimacy of a smaller town.
That sense of place also speaks to Munich’s qualities as a business location. It is a notably green city - something equally true of the HUB’s surroundings in Riem. Munich offers attractive employment opportunities, an exceptionally high quality of life, and enjoys a worldwide reputation as a leading centre of science and research, not least thanks to institutions such as LMU. This interplay of nature, urbanity, innovation and lifestyle is reflected in the showroom’s design.
Munich in the design: colours, materials, biophilia
The location is clearly echoed in the interior design. Bordeaux red, light oak, and deep as well as soft greens take their cue from Munich’s natural landscape - forests, meadows and the proximity of the Alps. Plants, nature-inspired colour harmonies and high-quality materials enhance the biophilic character and create a distinctly Munich-rooted spatial feeling.
Particular highlights include:
- the Cube MAX with its Alpine panorama
- the “beer-garden” Team Table as a communicative focal point
Compact, linear, consciously curated

At around 300 square metres, the Munich HUB is comparatively small, and its elongated layout presents a planning challenge. Rather than displaying everything, the space is deliberately curated: key products take centre stage, are carefully presented, and shift in line with trends and themes. This keeps the showroom agile, relevant and consistently up to date.
Products in focus: work settings rather than furniture
What matters here is not furniture lined up in rows, but work settings. The clear emphasis is on the Work Café, while classic individual desks have moved into the background.
The heart of the space is the Team Table: a place for working together, discussing, eating and meeting. It is complemented by:
- se:living
- se:café soft chairs and wooden chairs
- the se:café bar, extending the existing kitchen
- the se:café island as a green visual highlight
- the se:café diner, which found its ideal position through agile re-placement
For concentrated work, se:hives provide focused retreat areas. se:vision and se:mission have been given their own exclusive setting and are frequently used as meeting rooms by guests and partners.
Everyday use: co-working and events

The Sedus HUB Munich serves simultaneously as showroom, co-working space and event venue. It is a lively place that clearly departs from the idea of a static exhibition and instead enables genuine encounter and exchange.
Target groups and impact

The HUB is a place of inspiration, showing what an office can be today — and how a well-considered concept supports both productivity and wellbeing.
Its primary audiences are specialist retail partners, architects and planners, as well as end customers who want to experience workplace concepts in a tangible way.
Feedback is consistently positive. Comments such as “I would love to work here immediately” or “I’d want this at home too” demonstrate how convincingly the atmosphere and design resonate. The homely feel, the colour concept and the harmonious mood are particularly praised.
Networking and visibility

The Munich site also plays an important role within the local professional network. Through close relationships with retail partners, architects, planners and industry partners — and through regular events — the HUB is being established as a reliable host and platform for exchange, with the aim of further strengthening brand visibility.
Sedus HUB Munich illustrates how workplaces can become living spaces. With the Work Café at its core, a design inspired by the region, and a carefully curated product selection, it makes contemporary work culture genuinely tangible — a place people return to because they feel comfortable, inspired and welcomed.
