Mobile working has proven its value: three days in the office, two at home – a model many people aspire to and increasingly embrace. Yet for work to coexist seamlessly with everyday living, furniture must integrate effortlessly into the home environment, complement existing interiors and adapt even to the most compact spaces.
A well-designed home office not only enhances productivity but also supports overall wellbeing. Aesthetics are integral to creating an inspiring and motivating workspace within the home. The key lies in balancing design quality with functionality, efficiency and ergonomics, an approach exemplified by Sedus’ home office solutions.
For those seeking a workspace that transforms even the smallest corner into a design feature, the secretair home desk offers an elegant answer. With just a few simple steps, it can be set up and ready for use. Its compact footprint, combined with integrated storage, makes it a versatile all-rounder, providing sufficient space for documents and essentials while remaining discreet in a room or hallway.
To complement the secretair home, the se:café soft chair brings a sense of comfort and ease. “The design of the se:café soft chair is intended to convey a feeling of warmth and emotional appeal,” explains Falk Blümler, industrial designer at Sedus. “In line with current furniture trends, its proportions are deliberately generous, yet never excessive.”
The upholstery ensures a high level of seating comfort, supported by an internal structure made from recycled plastic components. A relaxed upholstery finish, with subtle folds on the inner side of the backrest, enhances its residential character.
The solid wood se:café wooden chair is a versatile seating solution for working, living and everyday life. It can serve as a companion to the secretair home during working hours, yet transitions effortlessly to the dining table or into the living room as a refined seating element.
In designing the solid wood chair, Sedus’ heritage played a defining role. The company’s long-standing tradition in furniture manufacturing, rooted in craftsmanship and innovation, inspired designer Konstantin Thomas. “The combination of traditional woodcraft and contemporary design reflects a balance between legacy and modern demands,” he explains. By focusing on clean lines and functional elegance, the chair honours Sedus’ origins while meeting today’s expectations. Reinterpreting the classic café chair, the design prioritises clarity and function. “My aim was to create a chair that is both aesthetically refined and highly practical. Its form directly supports its purpose, while maintaining a minimalist and considered design language.”
