Second Life: A Contribution to the Circular Economy

In an era where sustainability is no longer a trend but a necessity, the concept of refurbishment plays an increasingly important role. More and more public tenders, authorities, and businesses are required to include refurbished furniture in their equipment procurement – a clear push towards greater resource conservation.
This is laid out in EU Directive 2014/24/EU, which explicitly allows for ecological and social criteria in public procurement. Germany has incorporated this through its revised procurement legislation. Increasingly, federal states – such as Hesse, with its Public Procurement and Fair Pay Act – have made sustainability requirements mandatory. Germany’s Climate Protection Act (§13) also stipulates that the most climate-friendly option must be given preference in public procurement.
Refurbished furniture – like that offered at the Sedus Outlet – meets these requirements perfectly: it extends the product life cycle, reduces emissions, and avoids waste. This makes it both ecologically and economically advantageous – for example, by lowering life cycle costs.
“As the Sedus Outlet extends the life cycle of high-quality office furniture, it actively supports the circular economy and helps conserve resources,” explains Niklas Flum, Sustainability Specialist.
From Ergonomic to Exceptional: What You’ll Find at the Outlet

What’s on offer at the Sedus Outlet isn’t surplus stock – but carefully inspected one-off pieces with character, including:
- ergonomic office chairs,
- height-adjustable desks,
- soft seating,
- reception furniture,
- sideboards,
- and much more.
Many of the items originate from our manufacturing sites in Dogern or Geseke – produced for showrooms, events, or photo shoots and now ready for a new workspace.
“At the new Sedus Outlet, you’ll find everything needed for a modern office – from dynamic swivel chairs to reception desks and storage solutions. For those working from home, it’s a great opportunity to acquire ergonomically perfect, high-quality furniture at reasonable prices,” says Frank Vogelbacher, Director Central Sales.
