Good coffee, a quick chat with colleagues or a short break in between: se:café bar creates a space in the office where refreshment and socialising come together. With its distinctive wraparound frame and open-plan recess, it combines functionality with a homely atmosphere.
Yet the se:café bar is far more than a traditional office kitchen. Depending on the configuration, it offers space for hot and cold drinks, a sink and tap, a dishwasher, a fridge, a microwave and plenty of storage space. At the same time, it creates informal meeting points for spontaneous conversations, quick meetings or a coffee break together.
The addition of tall cabinets opens up further possibilities.

From a café bar to a versatile catering system
Wall module, room divider, island: the various se:café bar modules are available in different sizes and can be configured to suit the spatial layout and desired functions. This creates a modular system for a wide range of office requirements.
Planning remains straightforward. The individual modules are self-supporting and do not need to be fixed to the wall or floor. Modules without tall cabinets can be used against a wall or as freestanding room dividers; various island configurations are also available.
But why were tall cabinets the next logical step? Susanne Kipsieker, Product Manager at Sedus, explains:
You almost always need a fridge. If a smaller unit is sufficient, it can easily be placed under the worktop or in the island. But as soon as the fridge needs to be a bit larger, a tall cabinet is essential. And a microwave is often requested too; the best place for it is in a tall cabinet.

More storage space – and greater convenience
Tall cabinets primarily expand the functional possibilities of wall modules. They create additional storage space whilst also allowing for the integration of larger electrical appliances.
For example, a larger fridge can be fitted. A microwave can also be integrated into a tall cabinet – placing it at eye level for easy access. This makes daily use easier whilst ensuring a tidy overall look.
Depending on the layout, a tall cabinet can be positioned on the left, right or on both sides of a wall unit.
Susanne Kipsieker explains which practical requirements were a particular focus during the development of the tall cabinets:
There’s a huge choice when it comes to fridges and microwaves. What’s in demand in the private sector is often not needed in the office. It was very important to us that the planning and ordering process for the se:café bar remained as simple as possible. We have therefore focused on standard appliances and offer specific support with the selection.

A system for different spaces
It is precisely this variety of installation options that makes the se:café bar so versatile. As a wall-mounted solution, for example, it can create a classic catering area. Used as a room divider, it becomes a central meeting point, while freestanding versions provide a convenient hub for refreshments, socialising and informal breaks.
The tall cabinets are deliberately reserved for the wall modules. As their rear panels are not clad, these configurations must always be placed against a wall and cannot be used as freestanding room dividers.
This means the wall modules with tall cabinets are also particularly well suited to combined layout scenarios: “If you combine the tall cabinets with an island, you can accomodate all the desired functions. There is ample storage space and, at the same time, you have a meeting point with seating,” explains Susanne Kipsieker.
Functionality meets a sense of well-being
The extension also demonstrates what the se:café bar is fundamentally all about: functions required in the office should not simply be crammed in somewhere. They become part of a space where people enjoy spending time.
The open recess and the various fitting and design options give the se:café bar a homely feel. At the same time, numerous functions can be integrated – from the dishwasher and fridge to the sink and tap, right through to the microwave.
This means that a compact catering solution can also be transformed into a fully equipped café-bar – tailored to the space and the people who use it.
se:café bar intentionally combines catering with social interaction. From Susanne Kipsieker’s perspective, such informal meeting places are playing an increasingly important role in today’s office:
A lot can be done effectively whilst working from home, but direct, face-to-face contact in the office is irreplaceable. You pop in for a coffee and inevitably strike up a conversation. It might be about work or just a bit of office gossip. You feel part of the team. That’s why people enjoy coming into the office.

Complete – yet flexible
The tall cabinets complete the se:café bar product range: wall modules, room dividers and islands offer a variety of solutions for designing modern catering and social areas. The tall cabinets complement the modular system wherever additional storage space, larger refrigerators or an ergonomically accessible microwave are required.
The result is a system that can be flexibly adapted to different spaces and usage scenarios – from a compact coffee point to a central meeting place in the Work Café.
Susanne Kipsieker’s personal favourite detail is the functional ledges:
I love the functional ledges in the recess with the lighting and accessories – that’s what gives the se:café bar something special. And it’s practical too: everything is within easy view and you can adapt the layout time and again to suit new circumstances.
