Mix & Match in upholstery: How se:cove makes individuality a reality

Mix & Match in upholstery: How se:cove makes individuality a reality

Three upholstery options, countless possibilities

What makes se:cove special is its three-part cover concept. Seat cushions, inner backrest cushions and outer backrest cushions can be configured independently of one another and can be combined with different materials, colours or textures. This creates an exceptionally high degree of design freedom – without adding complexity to the planning process.

The principle behind it is as simple as it is effective:

  • Seat cushions: for comfort and targeted colour accents
  • Inner backrest cushions: for atmosphere, warmth and user experience
  • Outer backrest cushions: as a visible architectural surface in the room

It is the outer surface in particular that becomes a design statement in open-plan workspaces. Whilst the inner side conveys a sense of security and comfort, the outer side shapes the spatial effect – much like a façade in architecture. Additionally, leather or imitation leather can also be used for the outer backrest upholstery – for a particularly high-quality finish and even more design possibilities.

As the covers are neither glued nor stapled in place, they can be easily replaced should colour schemes change or new design requirements arise – a sustainable approach that intelligently combines durability with flexible interior design.

Corporate design comes to life in the space

With the mix-and-match concept, se:cove can be seamlessly integrated into existing colour and material schemes. Companies can subtly incorporate their brand colours, introduce hospitality elements or deliberately create a contrast.

This creates a variety of scenarios:

  • Tone-on-tone combinations for calm, elegant interior concepts
  • High-contrast exterior and interior surfaces for strong visual accents
  • Warm interior colours for a welcoming seating experience
  • Robust or darker exterior materials for high-traffic areas

This makes se:cove not just a piece of seating furniture, but an active component of the interior identity – that is, the design and cultural identity of a space.

Planning certainty for architects and retailers

The wide range of design options is not an end in itself. Instead, the upholstery concept is specifically designed to support consultation and planning.

For retailers and specialist planners, this provideas a clear and structured approach:

  1. Define the designed spatial effect
  2. Establish the colour scheme
  3. Distinguish between interior and exterior surfaces
  4. Select materials according to use

This facilitates the development of bespoke solutions – from lobbies and work café to quiet zones or management areas. At the same time, the product system remains straightforward and efficient to configure.

Individuality with a system

In modern working environments, there is a growing demand for furniture that combines personality and flexibility. se:cove meets this need with a concept that makes customisation systematically accessible.

Materials and colours often shape our perception of an object more strongly than its form. With se:cove, we wanted to create a framework in which these elements can be combined individually. This means that the same design constantly takes on a new identity whilst remaining unmistakable.

The result: every configuration appears unique, yet always remains part of a consistent design concept. It is precisely this balance that makes the lounge chair a valuable tool for holistic space planning.

After all, good design emerges where freedom and structure come together. se:cove demonstrates how this can work – with a mix-and-match principle that makes individuality a matter of design.
