The option of working from home has become a standard part of modern life. The key, however, is a well-thought-out workspace that blends elegantly into the home without compromising on ergonomics. Furniture should adapt flexibly to existing interiors and reflect the user’s personal style. The new home office solutions from Sedus demonstrate how this can be achieved.
se:desk home, a motorised, height-adjustable sitting/standing desk, is a prime example of combining ergonomics with homely comfort. It conveniently grows with its tasks, supports changes in posture during the working day and blends effortlessly into any living space. With a work surface of 70 x 120 cm, it also fits into small rooms or niches and still offers enough space for larger technical equipment. The desk is complemented by an integrated shelf that provides users with an additional, second level, while the rounded desktop and the privacy screen made of PET felt enhance the warm, homely character.
A good chair is like a good host: welcoming, comfortable and stylish. The new swivel chair se:mission opens out to the front almost like a welcoming gesture – it appears light and modern, whilst also conveying a sense of security. These qualities make the swivel chair not only the perfect choice for modern offices, but also for aesthetically designed home workspaces.
However, a high-quality swivel chair should not only offer ergonomic adaptability, but also visually integrate into a variety of environments. That’s why se:mission is available in a wide range of colours, materials, and design options, and allows individual configuration.
"My favourite detail, by far, is the technical solution for attaching the side panels to the seat," explains designer Volker Eysing. "With no visible screws, the panels are seamlessly embedded all round into the purpose-built recesses of the seat support, and the whole thing is offered in a variety of configurations, ranging from plastic panels and fabric or leather-covered plastic panels, right through to veneered moulded wood panels made from 3D veneer. The fact that the wooden version ultimately won through is something the entire project team can be proud of."
Alongside the se:mission swivel chair, the solid wood se:café wooden chair also offers an ideal seating option for the home. More than just a practical choice for working hours at the se:desk home – it also fits beautifully at a dining table or as a lounge-style option in the living room.
The history of Sedus played a key role in the design of the solid wood chairs. The long-standing tradition of furniture making, defined by precision craftsmanship and a spirit of innovation, was a decisive factor for designer Konstantin Thomas. "The combination of traditional woodworking and contemporary design reflects the balance between historical heritage and modern-day demands," explains Thomas. "Through the deliberate choice of clean lines and functional elegance, the chair reflects the roots of Sedus, whilst at the same time fitting seamlessly into the present day."
In the reimagination of the classic café chair, the principles of functionality and clarity took centre stage. "I wanted to create a chair that would be both aesthetically appealing and practical. This means that the form directly supports the chair’s purpose, while also offering a minimalist yet well thought-out design."
