How Spaces Shape Transformation: Sedus at the Frankfurt Finance & Future Summit 2025

Mission: Transformation Sustainable

A central discussion was the panel “Unstoppable Germany – Mission Transformation Sustainable”, featuring Daniel Kittner, Speaker of the Board at Sedus Stoll AG, Isabel Bonacker, Co-Owner and Vice Chairwoman of the BABOR BEAUTY GROUP, and Jan Zimpelmann, Global CFO of the Dr. Beckmann Group.

In an era where uncertainty often leads to hesitation, Kittner shared a clear message:

“Political and economic uncertainty has made many companies cautious. Yet if we want to remain internationally competitive, now is precisely the time to invest in a sustainable future – in people, in innovation, and in a responsible Germany.” - Daniel Kittner, Speaker of the Board, Sedus Stoll AG.

Transformation Needs Spaces – and Lasting Design

Sustainable transformation does not begin in strategies or statistics, but in the spaces where people meet, make decisions and shape ideas.

For the Summit, Sedus furnished the venue with around 300 products from the Second Life Circle, including se:living sofas and armchairs, se:lab sofas, se:works three-seater sofas, sweetspot and se:lounge armchairs, as well as se:tea lounge tables.

“The project was an outstanding success. The area was deliberately not arranged in traditional rows of chairs but divided into inviting zones that combined conventional seating with generous lounge and soft-seating areas – both in the conference space and in the networking zone. What I found particularly impressive was how the fishbowl format fostered a lively, open dialogue between panelists and audience. Our Second Life Circle furniture proved itself once again as a sustainable, highly flexible concept.”
— Robin-Clark Klimaschewsky, Business Development Manager, Sedus Stoll AG

This flexible concept made the sustainability and adaptability of the furniture tangible – an approach that creates spaces that are not only functional, but also welcoming, communicative and inspiring.

Responsibility as a System

For Sedus, sustainability is not an addition but a structural principle. Sedus Stoll AG is owned by the Stoll VITA Foundation and the Karl Bröcker Foundation, ensuring entrepreneurial independence while supporting social, ecological and philanthropic causes. Around two-thirds of the company’s profits flow into environmental, educational and social projects – nationally and internationally.

This sense of responsibility runs deep. As early as 1993, Christof Stoll stated:

“Ecology and economy are not opposites, but essential parts of a greater whole.”

Today, Sedus pursues ambitious goals: carbon neutrality across its sites by the end of 2025, a 30% reduction in direct emissions, 60% less primary energy use, and 80% of all wood sourced from sustainable forestry.

At the heart of this approach lies the Sedus Green Codex – a comprehensive framework for sustainable product development, material transparency and circular design. It ensures that every stage of a product’s life cycle is transparent – from design and production to use, re-use and recycling.

Spaces as Catalysts for Transformation

The Summit made one thing clear: transformation begins where dialogue happens.  Sedus created environments that encouraged exchange, broadened perspectives and made responsibility a shared experience.

Because sustainability is not about doing less – it is about acting more consciously. It does not begin with a single piece of furniture, but with the mindset that shapes the future.
