The welding machine manufacturer Ideal from Lippstadt as a family business in its third generation, stands equally for values and tradition as well as for innovation and quality. To ensure this is also reflected in the offices, a new building was completed in 2025, designed as an open space that enables communication, collaboration, and concentration. Sedus was responsible for the office outfitting in this project.

A premium atmosphere for open communication
At the start of the project, the contracted architects Rinsdorf Ströcker Architekten held workshops to identify what features the building would need to ensure that all users feel comfortable. For instance the entrance area functions as a transfer point, because office staff as well as production employees start their day here. At the same time, it also serves as a reception area for the company’s customers. The intention of the space concept was to create a premium atmosphere that fosters open communication.
A fusion of inside and outside
The generous windows on all sides of the office building underpin the communication friendly atmosphere further. This creates a variety of places for spontaneous exchanges or planned meetings. Marai Ströcker of Rinsdorf Ströcker Architekten sums it up in the video.
We have achieved a fusion of inside and outside, we provide insights into this area of communication, we create a transparent building that can actually be highly focused on the inside. And this principle continues in the further development of the building, inside the office environment, which we planned as an open space and which was something else that arose from the workshops.
The offices were designed to incorporate space for communication and collaboration, as well as for retreat, focus, and concentration. The consistent colour scheme of soft blue and green tones creates a harmonious overall impression.
Focusing on design and technical features
Following the architects’ recommendation and given the close proximity to the Geseke factory, Ideal opted for Sedus office solutions. The choice placed equal emphasis on product design and technical specification. Sedus fitted out the 800 square metre area on the ground floor, where the workspaces for around 50 administrative employees are located. These employees mostly work on-site, which is why they decided to install fixed workstations.
Team workstations
The team workstations features include temptation smart twin tables. The height adjustable double bench features an intelligent electrics concept that enables Ideal employees to change posture regularly.

A space for further growth
The success of the concept is reflected in the positive feedback from both staff and the managing director. This is in no small part thanks to the opportunities for participation in the design process. Marai Ströcker:
Ideal is seen not as an abstract idea, but as a tangible space for communication, teamwork and progress – created from the collective culture of its future users.
